From Conflict to Connection
Engage Effectively with Personal, Relational & Group Tension
Struggling with navigating conflicts constructively?
… balancing your own needs with those of others during disagreements?
Do you avoid difficult conversations out of fear of making things worse?
Or, notice them escalating into unproductive arguments or power struggles?
… fighting to be ‘right’ and repeating patterns of attack & defend; demand & rebel; anger & shame?
Do you ever feel overwhelmed by emotions in a conflict?
… tired of unresolved tensions?…stuck in the blame game?…when every word seems to be digging a deeper hole in your connection?
You’re not alone… Conflict is an inevitable part of our lives!
However, instead of viewing conflict as something to avoid or to win, it can be embraced as an opportunity for deeper understanding, trust and care.
In this training, we explore how to transform tension and conflict into more authentic connection and powerful learning experiences, enabling us to care for what matters to everyone involved.
We will learn and practice several options for responding to any kind of interpersonal tension.
Each aims to restore peace and goodwill and to support transformation, learning and productive forward action.
The practices range from least to most human resources (time, people, energy, attention, etc) required, and so provide a simple ‘Menu’ to choose from in the moments when we can’t think straight.
We practice and integrate the teachings through individual and group exercises, games and processes.
We Explore:
- The dynamics of conflict: Understand the underlying causes of conflict and why it can be so challenging to engage with.
- The 4 habitual conflict styles: Identify and transform your default responses to conflict, whether its avoidance, confrontation, accommodating or passive aggressive.
- Support systems: Create and utilise systems that cultivate ongoing well-being, mutual understanding and growth.
- Transformative communication strategies: Shift from defensive reactions to open, constructive dialogues.
- Collaborative problem-solving: Navigate your needs and others’ needs to find balanced, effective solutions.
- (Re)build trust and connection: Dissolve enemy images and bring compassion, understanding and care even in the midst of disagreement.
- Supporting others in conflict: Gain insights on how to help others navigate their conflicts while maintaining ‘omnipartiality’ (supporting everyone involved).
- Practical & versatile application: Engage in role-playing and real-life scenarios to learn how to apply these skills in personal relationships, professional settings and community groups.
You Can Gain:
- Tools for conflict engagement: A robust system for addressing and transforming interpersonal and group tensions.
- Resilience in conflict: Remain present and constructive, even when faced with unmet needs and disagreements.
- Deeper relationships: Use conflict as a way to deepen trust, connection and shared understanding.
- Increased emotional intelligence: Recognize and engage productively with your emotions and those of others during conflicts.
- Self-awareness: Understand your own triggers and patterns in conflicts to respond more consciously.
- Conflict mastery: Deal with conflict and difficult relationships with more fluidity, confidence and trust.
This training is designed to equip you with the skills needed to transform conflict into a pathway for understanding, growth and connection.
Hope you join us to learn how to handle tension not as a barrier, but as a bridge to stronger, more resilient relationships.
