SUMMARY:Power Up!
DESCRIPTION:Create the Life You Want with Powerful Requests\n \nThis training takes small steps toward the big questions:\n~ How to make life more wonderful?\n~ How to create the world we wish to live in?\nIn particular, a major block to living the life we wish for: the difficulty in asking for what we want. \nWe’ve been led to believe we should be self-sufficient, and that having needs and desires are bad… we’re afraid of rejection or being judged… or sometimes worse than hearing a ‘No’ is a Half-hearted Yes’ (then paying the price later).\nOften, we don’t even know what we want… or silently hope others will magically know without having to tell them.\nIf we do find the confidence and inner clarity to ask for what we want, unfortunately, we rarely tell people why it’s important to us, and we often make demands out of fear of hearing a ‘No’… and so, either or both of us don’t get what we really want.\n \nIn Power Up! we apply the principles and practices of transformative tools like Nonviolent Communication (NVC) to unlock the power within you: the power to get clear on what you want and why it matters; the power to ask boldly; the power to stay open to any response—including ‘No’; and the power to keep focus on the connection to make sure that you don’t get what you want at the expense of the other.\nWe learn the fine art of making clear and courageous requests, to seek solutions that work for everyone – a key pillar of collaboration and every kind of relating.\nIt doesn’t sound so easy, and, to be honest, it’s not. It is delicate, nuanced, and often one of the most challenging aspects of communication. So, we need lots of practice. Then when it comes to the delicate moments in our lives, when we need to be vulnerable and make a request, we will have the experience and skill to do so with courage, clarity and care!\n \nWe Explore:\n\nThe art of making requests: Craft positive, specific and actionable requests that are easy to receive.\nPower: Mobilize the power we have to know what we want and why we want it; to ask for what we want and remain open to ‘No’\nFluidity: Naturalize your request language for ease and flow in real conversations.\nNeeds & requests: Discover how expressing both separately can create understanding and open space for infinite possibilities.\nBarriers to asking: Identify and work through fears of rejection, shame or overwhelming others.\nAbundance in strategies: Cultivate a mindset of creativity and openness when seeking to meet your needs.\nShifting from demands to requests: Honouring everyone’s autonomy so we can receive ‘No’ as a gift.\n\n \nYou Can Gain:\n\nConfidence: Trust yourself and others enough to ask for what you truly want without fear or shame.\nEmpowerment: Shift from making demands to compassionate requests, creating win-win dynamics in relationships.\nClarity: A deeper understanding of how to balance your needs with those of others.\nCreativity: Be wild and courageous in generating requests for various needs.\nDeeper self-awareness: Understand your own needs, fears, and limiting beliefs around asking.\nStronger relationships: Cultivate trust, respect and collaboration in personal and professional settings.\n\n \nThrough interactive exercises, guided reflections and hands-on practice, you’ll build the confidence and skill to transform your everyday interactions.\nJoin us to discover how making and responding to requests can open pathways to deeper connection, collaboration and joy.\n \nNo previous experience required.\nStill, it can be helpful if you attend a ‘Communicate to Connect’ and/or ‘A Language of Life’ training sometime before.  Explained here ( https://donalgannon.com/event-faqs/ )\n \nThis is 1 of 2 related training days over the weekend.\nThese are part of a series of independent, yet mutually supportive, training days spread over 2 months.\nTo discover all the training days, see here\n
